The match is still being played out at break-neck speed but it’s fair to say Real Madrid have grabbed control of the match and are beginning to push Depor further and further into their own half. And they were inches away from taking the lead when Cristiano Ronaldo was caught a few inches offside from Ozils cross. The flicked finish was delightful but even the Portuguese wonder didnt complain when it was rightly ruled out.
With Depor offering very little in attack, both Sergio Ramos and Marcelo are able to support Ozil and Cristiano on the flanks, often creating two against one situations out wide that will be vital to Real Madrids hopes of escaping from the Riazor with three points. Kaka is yet to work his way into the match while Karim Benzema appears to having one of his more frustrating matches in a Real Madrid shirt.
For once I’d like to see Jose Mourinho switch to a 4-4-2 formation with Benzema supported by Adebayor because it’s clear to see the Frenchman just isn’t comfortable leading the line on his own. Stick Cristiano on the right, Ozil on the left and Kaka, who just isn’t the same player he was at AC Milan, on the bench.
