Wilson Palacios Knee Injury Keeps Tottenham Hotspur Midfielder Out For Three Weeks

Wilson Palacios hasn't had the best season, and things have gone from bad to worse after he was forced to have surgery today to address a knee injury. The midfielder reported knee trouble shortly after Tottenham's historic 0-0 home draw against AC Milan midweek, and the medical staff sent him to have arthroscopic surgery - a relatively minor procedure - to clear out the problem. The operation will keep Palacios out of action for at least three weeks, meaning that he'll be unavailable for Premier League matches against West Ham United and Wigan.

If this has happened last year, Tottenham's season may well have been in jeopardy, but although Palacios has featured 30 times in the centre of Spurs' midfield this season, the Honduran has found himself slipping out of Harry Redknapp's favour and drifting towards the fringes of a squad where he was once a stalwart. Partly, that's due to the emergence of Sandro as a top-class defensive midfielder, but Palacios' rather miserable form has plenty to do with his name no longer being at the top of the depth chart in the centre. Spurs should be plenty able to soldier on in his absence.
