The 2-2 draw between Juventus and Cesena in the Serie A today will be remembered more the gaffes than anything else - despite Alessandro Matri netting twice, Marco Motta picking up a first half red card which saw Juventus play with ten men for most of the game, and Marco Parolo scoring a 80th minute equaliser to give Cesena their share of the spoils in what was actually an incredibly entertaining competition.
Somehow, Emanuele Giaccherini managed to overshadow the rest of the match with what will probably go down as the greatest miss of the season. It may well even have a place on the all-time lists:
Yep, after being one on one against Gianluigi Buffon, Giaccherini managed to hit the post, pick up his own rebound two yards from goal and with an open net, and contrived to then miss the target by something like a dozen yards. That takes some doing. If Cesena hadn't managed to come back (Juventus scored shortly after his miss), I can't imagine Giaccherini would ever had lived this one down.
