Everyone got what they wanted at Columbus Crew Stadium tonight, as the New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew played to a 0-0 draw. With New York missing more than half of their first choice XI and Columbus being a generally suspect team, both teams started the game with the mindset that a clean sheet was the No. 1 priority. New York did a great job of staying organized, and though Columbus got a bit more ambitious in part of the second half in an attempt to steal three points, both teams ultimately kept a defensive style and as a result, achieved a result they were at the very worst content with.
All of New York's players should be ready to go next week after international call-ups and slight nagging injuries. Columbus certainly looked better this week than they did last week, but based on New York's available roster and style of play, this tells us next to nothing about what kind of team they will be going forward.
