Managing a result against the Argentinian national squad -- one at full strength with Lionel Messi, no less -- is a feat in itself for the United States Men's National Team. After largely waiting Argentina out while holding little possession, relying on Tim Howard to come up big again, the USA finally got its sucker punch.
On one of the few chances the Americans had, there was Juan Agudelo, an 18-year-old that's become a bit of a rising star for the American side. After coming on at the half, Agudelo cleaned up the mess in front of the net following a beautiful free kick by Landon Donovan to bring the United States level with Argentina at 1-1.
A result against Argentina -- especially with the way the game had been going -- was impressive for the USMNT. Argentina held what seemed to be a 90-10 possession advantage and spent the better part of the 90 minutes plus injury time in the American third.
But on a scramble play, after Carlos Bocanegra ripped a header into the Argentinian keeper, Agudelo was there to flick it home and bring the US level in front of a rowdy crowd at the New Meadowlands Stadium. It was the 18-year-old's second goal in three appearances with the national team as he continues to show promise while on national duty.
