Gigi Buffon A Doubt For Juventus Match Against Genoa

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon appears to have contracted swine flu, or possibly bird flu, or maybe even a flu that has nothing to do with an animal. It could even be the bubonic plague. Whatever it is, the mystery illness that struck Buffon just hours before last week's match against Roma seems to have lingered, and it's likely that he will miss Sunday's game against Genoa.

With Buffon still weak and trembling, Marco Storari will don the gloves again. It's not as though Storari is bad -- quite the opposite, in fact. The Juve second string keeper kept a clean sheet last weekend, saving shots from Mirko Vucinic, Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi. Gigi, on the other hand, has been out of form since returning from injury, scuffing important saves and getting himself sent off on a straight red (and then very nearly repeating the performance the next week).

Yet when Buffon's temperature returns to normal -- or when he recovers again from the back injury many think Juventus is hiding -- he'll be back in the net. There's just no way the Old Lady can leave out their valued keeper.
