West Ham United's surge up the table faltered once more as they were taken apart by Owen Coyle's Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium. A brilliant brace from on-loan striker Daniel Sturridge sandwiched a neat Lee Chung-yong header, but the 3-0 scoreline didn't reflect the level of dominance from the home side - Bolton could have won by five or six here, and the only reason the Hammers had any chances at all is because the hosts turned off after Sturridge netted their third early in the second half.
The result ensures that Bolton keep pace with Everton as both sides try to overhaul Liverpool in sixth place, but it keeps West Ham in 18th spot and in line to be relegated despite what had been a remarkable resurgence over the past month. They certainly didn't look like a team that had turned the corner today, and they'll have to do much better than this over the next six matches if they want to avoid dropping down into the Championship.
