UEFA Champions League Final: Rain In The Forecast

Stay connected with SB Nation

It is a nice, cool evening in London, England, but that doesn't mean the weather is all peachy. The forecast is also calling for rain at Wembley Stadium for today's UEFA Champions League final between Manchester United and Barcelona. Not that rain is a surprise in London, but it could change the match, with a bit of an extra skid to the ball or a player losing his footing at the most inopportune of times.

Wembley Stadium has a much-maligned pitch that could probably do without the rain. The grass has been replaced time and time again, but it still draws criticism after seemingly every match there. Per UEFA rules, the pitch was not played on in the two weeks before the final so it will not be a victim of wear, but it could be a victim of the rain and if it's a victim of the rain, will the match become a victim of the pitch?
