2011 Champions League Final: Pep Guardiola Discusses Barcelona Future

Stay connected with SB Nation

Pep Guardiola may not have managed his last game as Barcelona boss, but he sure isn't committing his future to the club right now. When asked about his tenure as head of the Spanish and European champions, he - surprisingly - wasn't particularly coy, claiming that he was planning on sticking around for a year and then re-evaluating the situation.

I have the intention to continue one more year then we have to see.

Obviously with Barcelona's reputation as a soul-destroying machine of footballing perfection the best team in the world, Guardiola's services are in high demand. He could get paid a lot of money to manage elsewhere, and if he leaves Barcelona at the peak of their dominance his reputation as one of the best managers in the world is secure. Where else would he go? Who knows? But him leaving Barcelona sure sounds more likely now than it did a few days ago.
