Hellas Verona secured promotion to Serie B on Sunday evening, despite losing 1-0 to Salernitana -- the 2-1 aggregate scoreline was sufficient to send them through to the second division. Juve Stabia, meanwhile, won 2-0 away to Atletico Roma after drawing 0-0 in the first leg.
Juve Stabia -- who are unconnected to the more famous Juve by anything except the fact that they adopted the name after a particularly successful time for Juventus -- move up to Serie B for the first time in sixty years. The team is located in Castellammare di Stabia near Naples and are nicknamed vespe, which means the wasps.
As for Verona, they were in Serie A as recently as 2001-2002, slipping down to the third division in 2006-2007. A fierce rivalry with upstart neighbors Chievo Verona means that the gialloblu will be doing everything in their power to return to Serie A as quickly as possible.
Verona and Juve Stabia join Nocerina and Gubbio in Serie B. Both clubs earned automatic promotion from Lega Pro.
