Between their missed chances and Colombia's disallowed goal, things were looking mildly concerning for the United States at halftime. Yes, they were dominating the game, but Colombia showed that they had the ability to equalize. Thankfully for the USWNT and their fans, they put on their shooting boots at halftime, and the U.S. women have quickly tripled their lead, as they're winning by a score of 3-0 in the second half.
At halftime, Megan Rapinoe entered for the ineffective Amy Rodriguez, a move that shifted Lauren Cheney from left midfield to striker. That change paid off quickly for Pia Sundhage, as they two players combined for a great goal. Running onto a great pass from Cheney, Rapinoe hit a rip of a shot into the back of the net, just five minutes after she came onto the field.
Not long afterwards, Carli Lloyd got on the board with a goal of her own. She took a long shot from the center of midfield that probably should have been stopped, but the keeper made a mess of it and the ball went into the back of the net, giving the United States a 3-0 lead.
