Mirko Vucinic is "very close" to joining Manchester United's stable of strikers according to the forward's agent. Vucinic recently requested a transfer away from Roma and most assumed that Juventus would be his destination, but now it looks like he has options outside of Italy and big options too with the Red Devils involved.
"We are very close to Manchester United," agent Alessandro Lucci told LaSignoraInGiallorosso. "The meeting was yesterday and there were no formal offers, but the English club made it clear they very much appreciate Mirko. We will know more in the next few days."
During United's preseason tour of the U.S. Sir Alex Ferguson said that he wouldn't look to add any more players and that he was happy with his squad. Chief executive David Gill thinks otherwise though.
"We are looking at one more player to bring in," Gill told MUTV. "Nothing is happening and nothing is imminent but we will see what happens when we get home. There will still be 31 days of the transfer window to see if anything develops."
Vucinic could be that one last player to bring in. He scored 11 goals last year for Roma, but was asked to play out wide and his lower output was largely due to position. The previous two seasons he combined for 36 goals in the Italian capital.
