New England Revolution Set To Sign First Designated Player, Argentine Striker Milton Caraglio

Aug 2, 2011 - Before the start of the 2011 season the New England Revolution front office promised that they would finally go after a Designated Player. It may have taken them a little while but according to Kyle McCarthy of Goal.com, the club will announce the signing of their first DP later today in the form of 22-year old Argentine striker Milton Caraglio.

Caraglio is coming to Major League Soccer from Rosario Central in the Argentine Primera División (they were recently relegated to the second division).

Some may recall hearing Caraglio's name as he nearly made the leap to the English Premier League with West Ham United. He joined them last summer but failed a physical and returned to Argentina.

New England is in need of an offensive boost as they rank tied for worst in MLS (with the Chicago Fire) in goals scored this season with 20. Caraglio scored 11 goals in his time with Rosario.
