Daniel Osvaldo Joins Roma from Espanyol

Pablo Daniel Osvaldo is on the move from Espanyol, joining Serie A side AS Roma following the conclusion of a €17.5M deal to bring the 25-year-old striker to the Stadio Olimpico. It'll be a homecoming of sorts for the Italian-Argentinian striker, who plied his trade in the country between 2006 and 2010, scoring fairly infrequently for the likes of Lecce and Fiorentina during a less-than-impressive career. Until, that is, he moved to Spain.

Espanyol got him on loan in January 2010, whereupon he blossomed into a genuinely good striker, earning a permanent €4.6M move that summer. Although he scored 20 goals in 44 matches for the club and was on a five-year contract, Espanyol couldn't turn Roma down when they came calling, so Osvaldo joins Luis Enrique's revolution down in the capital city. He should be a fine striker there, although it's unclear how well he'll work with legendary captain Francesco Totti - he tends to prefer playing up top on his own. Is it time for Totti to drop back a little deeper?
