Wigan Athletic Confirms Deal For Almería's Albert Crusat

Wigan Athletic have just completed a move for Albert Crusat, Almería's 29 year-old speedy winger. Crusat underwent a medical at the DW Stadium on Monday, and has literally just signed a two year contract (with a third year option) with Wigan.

Wigan are getting a very explosive, dynamic player, who's talented with both feet, and can take defenders on off the dribble with ease. More than that, though, Crusat is known for his blazing speed on the wing: he was one of the central fixtures in Almería's attack because of his ability to beat his defenders down the wing and either cut in or slice a cross behind the sprinting defenders. This is a great signing for Wigan, and while Crusat probably won't improve hugely at the age of 29, he already brings a lot to the table.

Almería, on the other hand, will look to bring up a youth player to fill his shoes. While it's disappointing to lose one of your top offensive options, it's no catastrophe as they have various youth players waiting to get a shot at Crusat's spot in the starting eleven.

Oh, and here's some very punny comedy: Wigan's official site announced the deal with this subtitle, "Latics in Crus Control." Get it? Eh? Get it?
