Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Rumors: Gary Cahill Talks With Bolton Ongoing

Bolton Wanderers finally seem to be on the edge of giving up centre half Gary Cahill after a strong pursuit all summer from a number of teams, including Arsenal. Now it does look like the defender is on his way to north London- but to Tottenham Hotspur rather than to the Gunners.

Cahill is in the final year of his deal and the Trotters will not be keen on the idea of seeing the England international move away on a free transfer next summer, so they'll be hoping they can get a good deal from Spurs and cut bait. According to Sky Sports, Tottenham had initially offered a player plus cash deal involving Sebastian Bassong, but Bolton are demanding a cash only deal and will probably get it, with the teams currently embroiled in negotiations.

Cahill will be a good addition to a Tottenham team that's rather defensively challenged as of late, but it remains to be seen just how much they'll have to pay for the home-grown centre back. If it's below 10M, fantastic, but Bolton will doubtless want far more for one of their hottest properties.
