Crazy news out of Sunderland, who are apparently attempting to solve their goal-scoring problem by a) acquiring Tottenham Hotspur forward and b) selling Asamoah Gyan at a loss to a Turkish club, which makes zero sense because Gyan is a better goalscorer than Crouch.
Sunderland offer £10m for Peter Crouch as record signing Asamoah Gyan heads for the exit. #safc #thfc http://t.co/L0fqkAC
Sunderland asking for bank guarantees before selling Gyan to Galatasaray or Trabzonspor at loss. Cost €15m, going for €6m + variables. #safc
Sunderland fans will be forgiven at being slightly confused at those reports, because they seem, frankly, bizarre. Crouch isn't an upgrade on Gyan, but Steve Bruce would be willing to pay 5M to go from the Ghanaian to the Englishman? Either Gyan has really irritated someone or something's getting misreported somewhere, because this just doesn't make very much sense.
