With Samuel Eto'o already scoring goals for his new Russian side Anzhi, it was clear that Inter Milan needed to find another striker, and fast. Where else to look but to a side that finished seventh in La Liga last season? Of course, that might have been due to the health of star player Diego Forlan, who only managed eight goals for Atletico Madrid last year. The year before, 18, and two years before, 32, which helped lead Atleti to the Europa League.
Obviously the nerazzurri are hoping for the Forlan of old, perhaps the Forlan that scored a brace in the Copa America final, allowing Uruguay to lift the tournament trophy. Then again, Forlan was leading the line with Luis Suarez -- will it be the same when he's paired with Giampaolo Pazzini? Inter will surely be crossing their fingers that Forlan can perform, because they need a bit of magic to even challenge AC Milan for the scudetto this season.
