If reports are true, the United States would play Ecuador on Oct. 11 in Connecticut.
The United States will host Ecuador in an Oct. 11 friendly, according to a report at MLSsoccer.com. The game will apparently be played in Connecticut, but no venue has yet to be revealed.
Assuming the reports are accurate, that game would be the fourth friendly the U.S. has played since finishing second in the most recent CONCACAF Gold Cup. Although 2014 World Cup qualifying is currently underway, the U.S. does not enter the process until June 2012.
The timing for 64th ranked Ecuador is a little less convenient. La Tri, as they are known, has a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier scheduled for Oct. 7 against Venezuela in Ecuador. They also have a qualifier scheduled for Nov. 11 in Paraguay. Ecuador finished in sixth in the 2010 qualifying, one spot below earning a trip a playoff against Costa Rica. Uruguay ultimately won that playoff and advanced to the World Cup semifinals.
Ecuador last played in the United States in 2007. That match was played in Tampa, Fla.
