Barcelona Vs. AC Milan, 2011 UEFA Champions League: Wither The Barcelona Equalizer?

Stay connected with SB Nation

It feels like the goal is coming for Barcelona -- but really, when does it not for last year's Champions? They're constantly playing on the edge of the Milan area, searching for just the right way through. Milan have eight players back behind the ball, absolutely desperate to prevent an equalizer, and thus far it seems to be working. Rossoneri players are blocking, the posts are doing their job, and Barcelona are helping by sending balls over and outside the goal.

This time it was Alessandro Nesta that made sure David Villa couldn't drive in the equalizer. The venerable defender had a bit of a blinder against Lazio on Friday, but he also made sure that the Romans didn't leave the San Siro with all three points, throwing his body in front of the ball to deny the winner. He did it again this time, blocking the Barcelona shot and sending it out for a corner.
