Real Madrid went in front with some great team play. They moved the ball quickly and brilliantly, covering more than half the field and eventually leading to a Cristiano Ronaldo tap in in front of goal. Their second goal didn't take that same kind of play though. It was a simple ball to Kaka and when the Ajax defense decided not to close him down, he just let rip from 20 yards and found the side netting to give the home side a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.
With a two-goal advantage, it seems almost impossible for Ajax to chase down Los Blancos. Madrid were already the favorites and they outplayed Ajax for the first 40 minutes to go along with their two-goal lead. Ajax had about half the possession, but little of it dangerous. Meanwhile, Ronaldo, Kaka and Mesut Ozil have absolutely terrorized Ajax. This one looks like it is in the bag.
