Coming off a disappointing performance against Costa Rica, many were looking for the United States to rebound in Tuesday's international friendly against Belgium. Through one half, it's a bit of a mixed bag as the two teams have played to a scoreless tie through 45 minutes.
With rain steadily coming down at King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, the hosts have had the much better scoring chances. U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard was forced into two rather difficult saves. Timmy Simons was able to get a clean look at a shot from about 25 yards out, forcing Howard into a diving save in the 26th minute. In the 33rd minute, Marouane Fellaini was able to get a close range shot off that Howard was able to parry away.
The U.S. has been forced into more of a bunker-and-counter game that, quite frankly, looks a lot like the way Bob Bradley's teams played. The U.S. has generated just one shot, a 5th minute attempt on goal from Clint Dempsey.
