Belgium Vs. USA, International Friendly: Kyle Beckerman, Juan Agudelo Enter At Halftime

Stay connected with SB Nation

Jurgen Klinsmann made two halftime substitutions for the United States in their Tuesday friendly against Belgium. The new U.S. manager has pulled perpetually disappointing Robbie Rogers for Kyle Beckerman and brought in Juan Agudelo for Jozy Altidore.

Neither Rogers nor Altidore played particularly well during the first half, with Rogers, in particular, nearly vanishing for large spells. Altidore did not exactly acquit himself particularly well, either, and did not get off a single shot.

In bringing in Beckerman, Klinsmann seems to be acknowledging that Maurice Edu needed some help in the central midfield. Although Beckerman seems to be playing more as a right midfielder, he should be able to help Edu with possession as he's more of a holding player than an attacking player.

The presence of Agudelo is little more curious. Agudelo has never looked particularly comfortable as a lone striker and has not seemed to do much to earn yet another national team appearance.
