Copa Del Rey, Round Of 16: Levante Win Emphatically, Espanyol And Valencia Through In Dramatic Fashion

Real Madrid's match against Malaga on Tuesday was entertaining and there will be plenty of eyes on Barcelona's Thursday match, but Wednesday is almost certainly going to end up as the best day of Copa Del Rey action so far this season. Levante brought their best, while Espanyol completed a spectacular comeback and Valencia just barely held on.

Levante 4-0 Alcorcon

Do you love Levante? No? I dislike you as a person. The low-budget La Liga outfit trailed Alcorcon coming into this second leg, but they won emphatically with a half-strength squad to ensure progression to the quarterfinals of the competition, winning 5-2 on aggregate with this big home win.

Espanyol 4-2 Cordoba

Cordoba won the first leg 2-1, so this game was a whole lot tighter than it looks. Alvaro Vasquez's dream week continued, as the Spanish youth international followed up his goal against Barcelona with a hat trick in the Copa. Espanyol jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Cordoba scored the next two goals to lock up the aggregate score at 4-4 and give themselves the advantage on away goals. Vazquez rescued his side in the 88th minute with his third and final goal.

Sevilla 2-1 Valencia

After Valencia won the first leg 1-0, an away goal should have all but sealed a place in the quarterfinals. When Roberto Soldado scored in the 66th minute, finishing off a brilliant assist by Jonas, the tie appeared to be over. Ivan Rakitic would score just four minutes later, however, putting it in doubt. Sevilla would force Victor Ruiz into a 90th minute own goal that tied up the aggregate score, but they couldn't find the third goal that they needed to go through, as Valencia advanced on away goals.
