QPR Linked To Samba Diakate Transfer

Queens Park Rangers continue their attempt to restock the squad in order to avoid relegation. They've already added Taye Taiwo, have been connected with virtually every centre half around, and now they've apparently sealed a deal with Ligue 1 side Nancy to take midfielder Samba Diakite to Loftus Road.

Diakite, who's currently on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Mali, had previously been linked to a move to Lyon, but they wanted him immediately rather than having him go to Gabon. Diakite, who's a defensive midfielder, won't be available to Mark Hughes and company until the end of the month, but he should be able to step in and shore up a team that desperately needs help. The €4M transfer is supposedly going to be complete very soon.

With Diakate, Taiwo and possibly Nedum Onouha coming in, QPR are going to have a radical makeover at the back. Whether that's enough to stave off the threat of dropping back into the Championship is an open question.
