Lazio Close In On Keisuke Honda

Lazio are apparently close to making a move for CSKA Moscow's wantaway star Keisuke Honda. The Japanese ace has been linked to several clubs in this transfer window following an injury-plagued half-season with the Russian side, bit it sounds like he's Romeward bound - Honda himself has admitted that a move is expected, although not completely wrapped up:

It's true that I'm positive about a move to Lazio. The clubs are in the final stage of negotiations. But I haven't made a formal agreement with the club yet, and in today's football world anything can happen up to the last hour of the transfer window.

Lazio are currently fifth in Serie A and have been casting about for reinforcements to keep them clear of Roma and Napoli. In Honda, they've found themselves a fantastic player - his time in Russia and in the World Cup has seen him rise to the status of Asian football's biggest star. Negotiations between the two clubs are not yet complete, but it sounds like this move will probably get done over the weekend.
