Manchester City Vs. Liverpool, 2012 Premier League: Halftime Score, Citizens Lead 2-0

Stay connected with SB Nation

A world without both Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard in the starting lineup is a sad one for Liverpool. They've had a couple of decent chances, but have been outplayed by Manchester City at Eastlands, and the Citizens take a deserved 2-0 lead into halftime. The first goal was downright gifted to City on a howler by Pepe Reina, but the second goal was downright brilliant.

Dirk Kuyt started the move that led to the first goal with a giveaway to David Silva. Silva found Sergio Aguero, who uncorked a hopeful shot towards the near post from 20 yards out. Reina should have saved easily, but somehow let the shot go under his body and into the back of the net.

City found their second goal on a corner kick in the 33rd minute. Once again it was Silva who would get the credit for the assist, delivering the corner into the box for Yaya Toure. The Ivorian international rose up and got his head to the ball, powering a fantastic header just under the crossbar to give his side a 2-0 lead.
