Manchester City have completed the signing of Roma midfield David Pizarro on loan until the end of the season, adding the potential of deploying some creative flair to the centre of the pitch. With the Premier League leaders sometimes overly reliant on David Silva's trickery out wide and Yaya Toure's driving runs in the centre of the pitch, they could use someone like Pizarro, and they got him with minimal effort.
Bizarrely, City's own website seems to think the little Chilean is a holding midfielder rather than a deep creator:
Holding midfielder Pizzaro has made only seven appearances for Roma this season but clearly falls into the Patrick Vieira category for the Blues boss' title push.
Viera's only a foot taller than Pizarro, but they also spelled their own player's name wrong in that release, so I guess I shouldn't have been expecting too much. Anyway, it's a good pickup for City, who despite a loss to Everton today still look like favourites to lift the title this season.
