2012 MLS SuperDraft: Combine Rosters Announced

Scouting for the 2012 MLS SuperDraft will begin in ernest now that full combine rosters have been finalized (click here for full roster). Among the latest additions to the previously announced list of players are four additions to the Generation Adidas class, seven internationals and two more college seniors.

Confirming earlier reports, Dom Dwyer, Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Enzo Martinez and Tyler Polak were all added to the the 2012 Generation Adidas class. That brings the class to nine players, which keeps it a similar size to past years.

The other notable additions to the combine roster are a group of seven internationals. As previously reported, former Liverpool academy player Jason Banton is probably the most notable player in that bunch. Other intriguing names include Aldo Paniagua and Gienir Garcia. Paniagua is a 22-year-old midfielder who has a couple appearances with Paraguay's U20 team. Garcia is a defender who has seen limited time with Cruz Azul, even scoring a CONCACAF Champions League goal for them against San Francisco during the 2010-11 tournament. The other internationals are Benjamin Ubierna (Peru), Emiliano Bonfigli (Argentina), Kohei Yamada (Japan) and Yuri Gorentzvaig (Brazil).

2012 MLS SuperDraft: Generation Adidas Adds Four More

It isn't quite official, but all indications are that Major League Soccer has finalized the 2012 Generation Adidas class just about a week before the SuperDraft. Four more players were added to the list on Thursday, bringing the total to nine, according to Soccer by Ives.

The final four players to be added are Enzo Martinez (North Carolina), Dom Dwyer (South Florida), Tyler Polak (Creighton) and Andrew Jean-Baptiste (UConn). They join the five players who had previously signed: Andrew Wenger (Duke), Darren Mattocks (Akron), Kelyn Rowe (UCLA), Chandler Hoffman (UCLA) and Sam Garza (UCSB).

MLS had also hoped to sign North Carolina's Billy Schuler, but he has apparently decided to try his luck in Europe. Word out of Sweden has Schuler signing with Hammarby. There is still the possibility that MLS could add 15-year-old Junior Flores, but he could also be signed after the draft and be allocated via weighted lottery.
