The large set of fixtures played early on Saturday in the 2012 FA Cup didn't produce too many upsets, but Paolo Di Canio's Swindon Town was able to knock out Wigan Athletic, while Macclesfield Town put in a great performance to force a replay in a 2-2 draw against Bolton Wanderers. The only Premier League side to lose other than Wigan was Blackburn, who fell 2-1 to Newcastle.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Queens Park Rangers join Bolton as Premier League teams who will be forced into a replay. All of the other Premier League teams who were in action won their games. Clint Dempsey put in a great performance for Fulham, scoring a hat trick in their 4-0 demolition of Charlton Athletic. Tottenham Hotspur and Everton also recorded shoutout wins.
