The Chicago Fire became the latest MLS team to sign a player out of Colombia, inking midfielder Rafael Robayo, who most recently was playing for Millonarios in his country's first division. Robayo was a regular with Millonarios, making 187 appearances and scoring 20 goals since joining them in 2005. In the last two year, Robayo has shown an improved scoring touch, scoring 12 times in 56 league matches.

"Rafael Robayo has an excellent work rate, good defensive energy and will provide support on both sides of the ball," Fire head coach Frank Klopas said in a team release. "Rafael is a sizable player who can get in and create around the box. He will join our core group in preseason camp as we continue to build toward the 2012 campaign."

Robayo is considered more of a box-to-box midfielder and will likely play in the center of the park for the Fire, who are still waiting to see if they will have Marco Pappa or Sebastian Grazzini this year.
