Arsenal are coming off a shockingly poor 1-0 loss at Norwich City in the EPL, so they'll need to get things turned around quickly against a Schalke side that is flying high after taking down their rivals Borussia Dortmund on the weekend.
Arsene Wenger has made a couple changes from the side that beat Olympiakos 3-1 in their last Champions League. Laurent Koscielny has been dropped in favor of Per Mertesacker, a move that should bother no one. Aaron Ramsey gets the start in place of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs is replaced at fullback by André Santos. Hard to really find any fault with those decisions.
For Schalke, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Julian Draxler and Teemu Pukki, all of whom started in the 2-2 draw with Montpellier, have been dropped. Joël Matip, Jefferson Farfán and Ibrahim Afellay take their spots.
Arsenal starting lineups (4-2-3-1): Vito Mannone; Carl Jenkinson, Per Mertesacker, Thomas Vermaelen, André Santos; Francis Coquelin, Mikel Arteta; Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski; Gervinho
Schalke 04 starting lineups (4-2-3-1): Lars Unnerstall; Atsuto Uchida, Joël Matip, Benedikt Höwedes, Christian Fuchs; Marco Höger, Roman Neustädter; Jefferson Farfán, Lewis Holtby, Ibrahim Afellay; Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
