Jackson Martinez scored twice to lift Porto past Dynamo Kiev in a Champions League barnburner.

FC Porto was not supposed to have much trouble with Dynamo Kiev at home, but they sure did. Dynamo played splendidly and really challenged the Portuguese, but in the end they had no answer for Jackson Martinez. The Colombian scored twice, his second in the 78th minute to lift Porto past Dynamo for a 3-2 in that keeps them perfect in the UEFA Champions League.

After a shaky start, Porto went in front at the 15 minute mark thanks to Silvestre Varela. That goal was supposed to calm things down for the home side and allow them to take control of the match, but it did no such thing. Oleg Gusev leveled just six minutes later and Porto looked just as out of sorts as they had at the begining.

Martinez got off the mark 10 minutes before the break and restored Porto's lead with a tidy finish. This time, the goal did settle Porto down some. They began to keep the ball a bit more and expose the space in the Dynamo midfield, but the visitor's defense was excellent and didn't let them through.

Porto began to get frustrated at their inability to get another goal and that frustration hit a new high in the 72nd minutes when Ideye Brown scored a magnificent goal. Andriy Yarmolenko hit a perfect chip over the Porto defense, which Brown took on his chest and perfectly brought down for him to volley. He ht an absolute rocket from six yards, stunning the Porto team and crowd as Dynamo looked on the verge of a mighty impressive draw.

But Martinez was there to rescue Porto again. This time it didn't take much work on Martinez's part as Porto got the ball wide on the right to Lucho Gonzalez, whose low cross found Martinez right in front of goal. A tap-in later and Porto had themselves their winner.

After three match days, Porto have nine points to sit atop Group A, three points clear of second place PSG. Dynamo have just three points, but that is good enough for second place, ahead of points-less Dinamo Zagreb.
