Europa League Recap: Spurs salvage point with a second half goal

Recap of all of the results from today's early matches in the Europa League.

Group G

Racing Genk 2-1 Sporting Lisbon

Elyaniv Barda scored with two minutes left before stoppage time to give Genk the victory over Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese side went ahead in the 8th minute thanks to Stijn Schaars, but Benjamin De Ceulaer answered 17 minutes later for Genk. The result keeps Genk atop the group by a point over Videoton while Lisbon remains stuck in last place.

Videoton FC Fehervar 2-1 FC Basel

Videoton took advantage two first half goals, one an own goal by Basel's Fabian Schar and the other from Caneira, to defeat Basel. Videoton remains in the second place behind Genk by a single point.

Group H

FK Rubin Kazan 1-0 Neftchi

Alan Kasaev's 16th minute goal was enough for Rubin Kazan as they dominated Neftchi. The visitors from Azerbaijan managed only one official shot and it wasn't on target.

Internazionale 1-0 Partizan Belgrade

Inter ripped victory from the jaws of a draw thanks to a short range header by Rodrigo Palacio in the 88th minute. With the win, Inter moves to the top of the group via the magic of the tiebreaker.

Group I

Lyon 2-1 Athletic Bilbao

Lisandro Lopez put Lyon ahead in the 54th minute but Bilbao's Ibai Gomez answered back in the 78th, seemingly salvaging a point for the visitors. Alas, it wasn't to be as Jimmy Briand scored in the final minutes to give Lyon the win. Bilbao, last year's runner-up in the Europa League, continues their struggles in this season's tournament with only one point from their first three matches. Lyon meanwhile sits comfortably atop the group with nine points.

Sparta Prague 3-1 Hapoel Kiryat Shmona

Sparta Prague did all their damage in the first half with goals from Ladislav Krejci, Vaclav Kadlec and Ondrej Svejdik as they cruised past Hapoel 3-1.

Group J

NK Maribor 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Robert Beric put Maribor ahead just before halftime but Spurs battled back in the second half, equalizing thanks to Gylfi Sigurdsson in the 58th minute. The result keeps Maribor in second and Spurs in third, halfway through the group stage.

Panathinaikos 1-1 Lazio

Lazio went ahead in the first half thanks to a somewhat comival own goal by Panathinaikos's Giourkas Seitaridis but couldn't hold on to the lead. Jose Toche scored two minutes in to stoppage time to steal a point for the Greek side. Lazio missed the chance to open up some space at the top of the group for themselves, but they remain in first by a point over Maribor.

Group K

Rapid Vienna 0-4 Bayer Leverkusen

Leverkusen hammered Rapid Vienna behind a Gonzalo Castro brace and goals from Phillipp Wollscheid and Karim Bellarabi. Leverkusen moves in to first place with the victory while Rapid remains in last, still without a point in the group.

Rosenborg 1-2 FC Metalist Kharkiv

Thanks to a first half goal by Tarik Elyounossi, Rosenborg were ten minutes away from a win when the wheels fell off. Metalist roared back, tying the match in the 80th minute on a Bonfim Marlos goal and taking full points when Ribeiro Cleiton Xavier scored a minute before full time.

Group L

Helsingborg 1-2 Hannover 96

Helsingborg looked that have salvaged a draw when Álvaro Santos scored one minute in to stoppage time, but Hannover's Didier Ya Konan scored two minutes later to take back the lead and earn full points for the Germans. Hannover had led from the 12th minute thanks to Mame Biram Diouf's goal in the 12th minute. Americans Steve Cherundolo (Hannover) and Alejandro Bedoya (Helsingborg) both started and went the full 90 minutes.

Levante 3-0 Twente Enschede

Levante cruised by Twente behind a brace from Pedro Ríos and a penalty goal by Míchel. The victory keeps Levante in second place, one point behind the leaders Hannover.
