Sampdoria are in free-fall while Cagliari are finally digging themselves out of the relegation zone. Against a weakened Samp defense, can Cagliari keep winning?
Those who, at the start of the season, were tipping Sampdoria for a return to European play must be feeling a bit silly right now. After winning their first three matches, 'Doria drew two and then proceeded to lose three. You know your star has burned out when your side allows Amauri to score against you, not once but twice.
The hosts are likely to be wishing their match against Cagliari had come just a few weeks ago. But since Ivo Pulga and Diego López took over, the Sardinians have notched two straight wins, finally lifting them out of the relegation zone. They've only scored five goals in eight matches, however, so they'll be thrilled that today's the day to visit Sampdoria -- their defense is in tatters.
Sampdoria Injuries and Suspensions:
Nenad Krsticic, Pedro Obiang and Nicola Pozzi, (injured); Sergio Romero and Andrea Costa (suspended).
Gaetano Berardi (doubtful)
Forget the injuries, Samp are missing their first choice keeper and one of their starting center-backs. Time for Cagliari to improve on their goal tally?
Cagliari Injuries and Suspensions:
Andrea Cossu and Mauricio Pinilla (doubtful)
Match Date/Time: Sunday, October 26 at 3 p.m. local, 10 a.m. ET (note: this is not a typo; the European clocks change this weekend while the U.S. waits until next weekend).
Venue: Stadio Luigi Ferraris
TV: Sky Calcio 3 (Italy)
