How did you think Juventus were going to react to seeing their Serie A unbeaten streak end at 49 matches? Having the scudetto holders lose 3-1 at home against Inter Milan was probably the worst thing that could possibly have happened from Pescara's perspective -- the champions were not in a forgiving mood and utterly annihilated their hosts 6-1 at the Stadio Adriatico.
By the time Fabio Quagliarella completed his hattrick in the 53rd minute with a spectacular scissor volley for Juventus' sixth goal, it was easy to forget that at one point Pescara were actually in the match. The 2-0 Juve lead established by Arturo Vidal and Quagliarella had been reduced to 2-1 in the 25th minute thanks to an Emmanuel Cascionne strike, and Matti Lund Nielsen rattled Gianluigi Buffon's post with a shot from 18 yards shortly thereafter. Had that gone in... well, it definitely wouldn't have finished 6-1.
Instead, Juventus scored again and kept on scoring. Kwadwo Asamoah scored in the 30th minute. Sebastian Giovinco in the 37th. Quagliarella got his second just before halftime. By the time 'Quags' had made it 6-1, the visitors were feeling rather sorry for Pescara, and resolved to apply Nicklas Bendtner mercy rule by introducing the Danish scorer, at which point they stopped scoring.
