Jack Wilshere scored for the first time in two years as Arsenal clinched a place in the knockout round of the Champions League.
A couple of fantastic goals have seen Arsenal through to the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League. Olivier Giroud still has to find his finishing touch in an Arsenal shirt, but he was fantastic against his former club on Wednesday night, setting up both of his team's goals as they defeated Montpellier, 2-0.
The first half was rather uneventful, but it didn't take very long for the Gunners to break the deadlock and take control of the match in the second half. Giroud found Wilshere in the center of the box early on in the period, and the midfielder chipped over Geoffrey Jourdren to score his first goal in two years, while putting his team up 1-0 after 49 minutes.
Lukas Podokski sealed the Gunners' victory with his best goal in an Arsenal shirt to date, taken on the volley from the edge of the penalty area. Montpellier, with little to play for but pride, had very little to offer going forward and never looked like fighting their way back into the match.
