Lazio 0-0 Tottenham
Lazio enjoyed the best night out of the three Italian sides in action in tonight's early games as a drab 0-0 draw with Tottenham Hotspur was enough to send the through to the next stage, although they were fortunate to see a Gareth Bale goal wrongly disallowed.
Anzhi Makhachkala 2-0 Udinese
This result puts Anzhi right in the driving seat in Group A and leaves Udinese in trouble, bottom of the group and two points behind both Liverpool and Young Boys with just one game remaining. Christopher Samba and Samuel Eto'o did for the Italian side, who continued their disappointing campaign.
Neftchi 1-1 Partizan Belgrade
Both of these teams were already out, so this was a match of no importance whatsoever. Not a bad result for Neftchi, but a pretty disappointingly useless campaign from Partizan, even if they did have two difficult teams in their group.
Rubin Kazan 3-0 Inter Milan
A humbling in deepest Russia for the Italians, although this one probably had more to do with the team they sent out than the harsh conditions. With an average age of 23, it was the youngest side they have ever put out, and they could afford to since both teams had already qualified. The scoreline was somewhat flattering, however, with two of Rubin's three goals coming from a very late Salomon Rondon brace.
FC Basel 3-0 Sporting CP
Concluding a pretty awful campaign from Sporting, they needed to win tonight and they got nowhere near as Basel sent them packing. The defeat was made even more embarrassing by the fact that Basel were down to ten men after going 1-0 up thanks to a red card for Cabral. On top of the fact they were missing Marco Streller, this was pretty humiliating for Sporting. Fabian Schar, Valentin Stocker, and David Degen got the goals.
Metalist Kharkiv 2-0 Bayer Leverkusen
Whisper it, but Ukraine is producing some pretty decent sides now, and it's not just the two big boys. Metalist and Dnipro look like proper teams, and the former showed it tonight by comfortably beating Leverkusen, Jonathan Cristaldo and Cleiton Xavier getting the goals.
Hannover 96 0-0 FC Twente
Twente needed a win here and also needed Levante to slip up against Helsingborg. They got neither, so it's the Germans and the Spanish who go through.
Helsingborg 1-3 Levante
Helsingborg had nothing to play for as they were already out, and they couldn't stop Levante beating them on their own turf to earn a place in the next round.
Panathinaikos 1-0 NK Maribor
Maribor could've made things nervy for Lazio and Tottenham with a win here, but they didn't, a Vitolo penalty sinking their hopes. They're now out, while Panathinaikos will need to win their final game away at Spurs to progress.
Rosenborg 3-2 Rapid Vienna
Both of these teams were already out regardless of what happened in Kharkiv, so decided to throw caution to the wind and enjoy themselves and put on an entertaining spectacle. Good for them.
Sparta Prague 1-1 Lyon
Lyon were already through here, but still probably should've beaten Sparta Prague - that wraps up an excellent campaign for the Czechs, who are now as good as certain to progress.
Videoton 0-1 Genk
Genk's victory puts them top of the group and guarantees qualification, while Videoton will now need a win at Sporting and to hope Basel lose against Genk to progress.
