Eintracht Frankfurt suffered their first loss to the season with Mainz handling them on the way to a big victory.
Mainz went to the Waldstadion and handed Eintracht Frankfurt their first home loss of the season with a 3-1 victory. Shawn Parker was the hero on the day as the young German youth international had a goal and an assist to lead Mainz.
The visitors opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Andreas Ivanschitz played a one-two with Parker before scoring past Kevin Trapp. Parker made it 2-0 just before halftime when he knocked in a pass from Eugen Polanski.
Mainz made it 3-0 just after halftime when Nikolce Noveski headed in a corner from Nicolai Müller. Frankfurt's only goal came minutes later when Adam Szalai accidentally turned a Takashi Inui cross into his own goal. Frankfurt were unable to find their way back into the game however.
The three points move Mainz into 7th place on 20 points, and they're now just 4 points behind Frankfurt who are in 4th.
