Manchester United will hope to remain top of the league by beating West Ham United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Manchester United will look to stay top of the Premier League as they face West Ham United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils had recently taken top only to give it up after losing to Norwich City, but Manchester City's 0-0 draw with Chelsea has allowed them to climb up to 1st once again. They will be expected to prevail against an injury-stricken West Ham game which were comfortably defeated by Tottenham in their last encounter.

Sam Allardyce, meanwhile, has spoken of Manchester United's defensive frailties as his side's best opportunity to win the game. With United nearing a fully-fit defence for once, they will be hoping that consistent form comes with it.

Manchester United injuries and suspensions

Out: Paul Scholes (suspended), Nemanja Vidic (knee), Shinji Kagawa (knee) In doubt: Antonio Valencia (hip).

West Ham injuries and suspensions

Out: Mark Noble (suspended), Jack Collison (knee), Ricardo Vaz Te (shoulder), Yossi Benayoun (thigh). In doubt: George McCartney (ankle).

Paul Scholes is suspended after picking up five yellow cards for the Red Devils, and Shinji Kagawa is still not ready to return. Nemanja Vidic remains out, although Antonio Valencia has a chance of featuring as he recovers from a hip problem.

West Ham's Mark Noble will also be suspended for the match, while Jack Collison and Yossi Benayoun are still missing along with Ricardo Vaz Te. George McCartney suffered an ankle injury in West Ham's weekend defeat against Tottenham and will be a doubt.
