Normally, Manchester United play terribly for an hour then win anyway. Today they did things a little bit differently. Robin van Persie scored within the first 30 seconds after a wonderful touch led to a deflected effort off James Collins which left Juusi Jaaskelainen utterly helpless. Having been given a 1-0 lead, they then didn't bother doing very much for the rest of the match.
Granted, they didn't need to. West Ham were extremely open throughout and had the hosts turned it up a few gears they could have ripped Sam Allardyce's crew to shreds. But they insisted on giving their visitors chances and making sure the game stayed close, to the point where it looked like a very real possibility that the Hammers could walk away with a draw.
But ultimately the visitors failed to take the opportunities they were presented with, and the Red Devils came away with all three points despite being kind of meh all night. Stop me if you've heard that one before.
