Luzi Felipe Scolari has been confirmed as the next Brazil manager by the Brazilian Football Federation.

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been named as Mano Menezes' replacement as Brazil manager and will lead the team in the 2014 World Cup, the Brazilian Football Federation have confirmed.

Scolari returns to a job he last occupied when he oversaw Brazil's last World Cup win in 2002, and was one of the frontrunners for the job despite having achieved little of note since. Scolari's first game in charge will be a friendly away against England in February. Carlos Alberto Parreira has also been named as technical director.

Scolari said: "I'm not feeling under pressure, but very happy,. When the FA president called me last Tuesday and confirmed that I was the chosen one, I thanked him a thousand times."

Jose Maria Marin, the president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, added: "Our sole commitment is to seek out and offer the best for our football and it is in this vein that we have chosen these two great champions, respected not just in our country but worldwide."

Scolari had apparently recently turned down the post of Russia manager, and his appointment comes shortly before the draw for the Confederations Cup, due to take place next year.
