Copa del Rey, Round of 32: Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla and Atlético Madrid cruise through

Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno

Barcelona, Valencia, Sevilla and Atlético Madrid were all in action in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, and all passed through into the next round without too much trouble.

Valencia 3-1 Llagostera (Valencia 5-1 Llagostera aggregate)

Llagostera showed little sign of overcoming their 2-0 deficit from the first leg as Valencia cruised to a comfortable win through Adil Rami, Nelson Valdez, and Juan Bernat. Nico Rubio got a late consolation for the visitors.

Barcelona 3-1 Deportivo Alavés (Barcelona 6-1 Deportivo Alavés aggregate)

Alaves were 3-0 down from the home leg, and scored first in the tie at the Nou Camp, but even the most optimistic of their fans probably wouldn't have suggested they were going to do the unthinkable. That proved right, as Barcelona scored three to cruise to the next round, with a David Villa brace after an Adriano Correia equaliser.

Atlético Madrid 1-0 Real Jaén (Atlético Madrid 4-0 Real Jaén aggregate)

3-0 up from the first round, a Raul Garcia goal was enough for Atleti to progress at the expense of their lower-league opposition.

Levante 4-1 Melilla (Levante 4-2 Melilla aggregate)

Melilla had a narrow 1-0 lead from the first leg to hold onto to cause an upset, but they failed to do so as Valencia struck four times before both sides received red cards in the dying minutes.

Espanyol 0-3 Sevilla (Espanyol 1-6 Sevilla aggregate)

Espanyol should have had every chance of overturning a 3-1 deficit from the first leg, but an early red card for Javi Lopez made their task impossible. Diego Perotti smashed home the resulting penalty before Ivan Rakitic and Diawara made sure.

Getafe 0-0 Ponferradina (Getafe 4-0 Ponferradina aggregate)

Lowly Ponferradina didn't have too much hope of overturning their first leg defeat, and while a 0-0 away to Getafe is a creditable result, it was always the home side who were going to progress here.
