Borussia Mönchengladbach vs. Freiburg: Final score 1-1, Caligiuri rescues point with late penalty

Igor De Camargo and Daniel Caligiuri swapped goals in a 1-1 draw between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Freiburg.

Freiburg scored a late penalty to deny Borussia Mönchengladbach a win at home with a 1-1 draw.

Gladbach took the lead just after halftime. Oliver Wendt crossed the ball into the penalty area from the left side, and Igor De Camargo had the easiest of tap-ins to make it 1-0. De Camargo was starting in place of the injured Luuk de Jong and clearly made the most of his opportunity with the opening goal.

Freiburg kept coming forward in attack and were rewarded with a penalty in the 77th minute. Juan Arango clipped Freiburg's Oliver Sorg just enough for the referee to award a penalty to Freiburg. Daniel Caligiuri stepped up and sent Marc Andre ter Stegen the wrong direction for the equalizer. The goal is Caligiuri's second in his last three matches.

Gladbach remain one point ahead of Freiburg with the result, and the two sides sit in 10th and 11th places respectively on 13 and 12 points.
