Braga vs. Manchester United, 2012 UEFA Champions League: Preview and TV schedule

Richard Heathcote

Braga are hopeful they can get something from their clash against Manchester United as the race for the 2nd spot in Group H heats up.

Manchester United are almost home and dry in Group H, but they face a difficult test in Braga away tonight, a club who were close to getting something from Old Trafford and are keen to make the most of a good opportunity to progress to the knockout stages.

Sir Alex Ferguson identified Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Borussia Dortmund as the three main contenders for the trophy along with his own side - oddly dismissing the current holders, Chelsea - and a win tonight will see his side move through to the next stage, but Braga's 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford will provide them with plenty of encouragement that they can pick up a favourable result tonight.

After a busy schedule in the past two weeks, it's probably that Ferguson will opt to rest some of his players for tonight's game, and Danny Welbeck, Alexander Buttner and Anderson could all make starts for the Red Devils. Whatever team United send out should be one more than capable of securing a win, but with the way they've defended so far this year, anything could happen.

Braga welcome Douglao back to the side after missing three matches, which should strengthen the hosts' backline. Manchester United have Chris Smalling in their squad, who could make his first appearance of the season, but Phil Jones is still not ready to return.
