When was the last time Real Madrid hosted Atletico Madrid while below their cross-town rivals in La Liga? Whatever the answer, it feel like 'never', so this match is extremely weird. Atletico, three points back at the top of the table going into today, are trying to keep pace with Barcelona, and they'll need a win at the Santiago Bernabeu to do so. Yeah, this is super-weird.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are looking to narrow the gap between second and third place to five(!) points, and with the quality of the players on their roster, you'd have to give them every chance of overcoming Atleti, especially at home, where they're 5-0-1 this year.
Real Madrid starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Iker Casillas; Fabio Coentrao, Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Alvaro Arbeloa; Xabi Alonso, Sami Khedira; Cristiano Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil, Angel di Maria; Karim Benzema.
Atletico Madrid starting lineup (4-2-3-1): Thibaut Courtois; Cata Diaz, Diego Godin, Joao Miranda, Juanfran; Gabi, Mario Suárez; Arda Turan, Koke, Diego Costa; Radamel Falcao
