Lacklustre Lazio escaped Bologna with a point and had Libor Kozak sent off late on.

The Rossoblu dominated much of the second half and will see the game as two points dropped.

The result moves the Eagles into fourth place, while Bologna climb to 15th.

Federico Marchetti returned between the Lazio sticks, but Miroslav Klose was only fit enough for the bench. Bologna had the luxury of fielding a full strength side.

Alessandro Diamanti swept the first chance wide in the fifth minute. The home side restricted Lazio to long range efforts in the first ten minutes, with Hernanes and Cristian Ledesma both firing over.

Antonio Candreva ghosted into the box past Frederik Sorensen, but Federico Agliardi saved a weak left footed shot.

Alvaro Gonzalez pulled up on 18 minutes after getting his studs stuck in the heavy turf. The Uruguyan was alright to continue. Halfway through the first period, Marchetti gathered an Alessandro Diamanti daisy cutter.

Poor delivery was letting the visitors down as Candreva continued to get forward. Luis Cavanda picked up a booking for a foul on Panagiotis Kone, which rules the Belgian defender out of next week's game with Inter Milan.

Lazio's defence was all at sea on 32 minutes as a free-kick was played into the box. Nicolo Cherubin's shot was finally blocked.

The best chance of the half fell to the visitors in stoppage time. Agliardi got down at his near post to turn Giuseppe Biava's low drive wide from six yards.

Bologna were kept waiting for four minutes as Lazio delayed coming out for the second half. Some of the floodlights were out, but there was plenty of light on the pitch and no reason for the game to be halted.

Five minutes into the second period, Stefan Radu put in a well-timed block to deny Saphir Taider, after Alberto Gilardino threaded through.

Bologna started to dominate, as Diamanti fired a free-kick straight at Marchetti, then saw a shot deflect wide. Marchetti was rooted to the spot on the hour and could only watch as Tiberio Guarente fizzed a shot wide.

Lazio were denied a penalty just after the hour, when the referee failed to see Cherubin wrestle Michael Ciani to the ground as Bologna defended a corner.

Bologna were inches away from taking the lead on 64 minutes. Taider's shot hit Ledesma, with the bounce taking it just over Gilardino, who was sliding in on the line.

Kozak found a rare glimpse of goal, only to see his shot blocked. Ledesma tried to quickly take a free-kick, but the ball comically ricocheted off the referee's head.

With 15 minutes left, a cross-turned shot from Kone nearly caught Marchetti out. Sorensen was cautioned for a foul on Stefano Mauri and will be suspended for next weekend's trip to Napoli.

On 83 minutes, Marchetti turned Gilardino's angled shot to safety and away from the prying Taider, who was anticipating a parry.

The ineffective Kozak lunged at Archimede Morleo and was rightly sent off for a second bookable offence with four minutes left to play.

Substitute Cristian Pasquato almost wrote himself into Bologna folklore with a quick turn and shot in stoppage time, but Marchetti was equal to the shot, pulling off a good save.
