A little over a month ago, adidas announced that one lucky fan will be able to design the boots that Lionel Messi will wear in an upcoming game. That upcoming game is today against Atlético Madrid and some 14,200 miadidas.com entries later, Leo Messi has selected one design that really struck his fancy.
Messi, an adidas f50 stalwart, has been wearing the yellow adizero (that we had the opportunity to review) since they launched. His new look, created by Javier Pasqual Mullor, features a "running white" upper with black outsole and vivid red tongue, heel, and signature three stripes. Messi's boots also has the word "Thiago" on the outside of each foot to honor his newborn son along with the Argentinian flag, "Leo 10," and Messi's brand logo.
Speaking about his shiny new footwear, Messi said:
"I am happy with the miadidas boots and want to congratulate Javier on designing the winning ones that I will wear Sunday against Atlético Madrid. I also want to thank everyone who sent in their designs, they were all really good!"
