Pescara vs Catania, Preview: Catania look to beat the away day blues

If this game was being played in Sicily, you would almost certainly think home win, such is the formidable form Catania are in at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.

It's much more interesting that the game is being held in Pescara, given Catania's patchy away form and the sheer unpredictability of the Delfini. The travel sick Sicilians have won just once on the road all season, while three of Pescara's four league victories have come at the Adriatico.

That being said, Rolando Maran's side will fancy their chances of consolidating eighth place in the standings. The visitors make the trip on the back of two consecutive 3-1 victories over Siena and Sampdoria. Meanwhile, the relegation threatened hosts will be licking their wounds after suffering a 4-1 mauling by Milan at the San Siro.

Cristiano Bergodi will be hoping his forwards can score at the right end this week after Elvis Abbruscato and Jonathas both registered own goals in last weekend's defeat.

Manuele Blasi and Emmanuel Cascione will again be missing from the midfield through injury. Joining the duo on the sidelines are backup goalkeeper Luca Savelloni, defender Uros Cosic and striker Ante Vukusic. Giuseppe Colucci is only fit enough to start from the bench.

Catania will be without midfielder Fabio Sciacca, who is sidelined until next April following a knee operation. Gonzalo Bergessio, Amidu Salifu and Marco Biagianti all miss out through injury, Alejandro Gomez is back in the squad, while Sergio Almiron returns from suspension.
