Manchester City vs. Reading 2012: Preview and TV schedule

Laurence Griffiths

City bounced back well against Newcastle United and will look to continue accentuating the positive against last place Reading

Manchester City bounced back well from their stoppage time loss to Manchester United with a thorough demolition of Newcastle United. The only better for recovery from a tough loss than a positive result is getting to host Reading. There's no reason for City to panic of course despite being six points behind United for the league lead, but there will be reasons to panic if they trip themselves up against Reading...who are terrible.

Sorry Reading fans but your team is simply not very good.

From City's perspective they simply need to win to ensure they keep pace with whatever United does and get some confidence back after their disappointing derby result. Anything other than a 3 or 4 goal whitewash for City would be a shock.

Manchester City injuries and suspensions

Out: Micah Richards (knee), Jack Rodwell (hamstring), James Milner (hamstring), Samir Nasri (groin), Aleksandar Kolarov (groin). In doubt: Vincent Kompany (hamstring).

Reading injuries and suspensions

Out: Alex McCarthy (shoulder), Sean Morrison (knee). In Doubt: Jem Karacan (knee), Jason Roberts (hip).

Vincent Kompany has resumed training and should be available after injuring his groin against Manchester United. Nasri has been ruled out until likely after the new year. For Wigan, McCarthy and Morrison are both out for today's match. Karacan returned to training but is not expected to play while Jason Roberts will likely undergo a fitness test to determine his availability.
